Course Overview

BPTh (Physiotherapy) course started in the academic year 2019 with a vision to cater quality and excellence in physiotherapy education. Course is designed to prepare the student of physiotherapy to develop critical think in skills competencies and standards that required to practice in ever changing health care setting through in depth integration of theory, practice and research. so that graduate registered Physiotherapist (Physiotherapy council) can be the role as Physiotherapist.

  • The aim of the course is to provide comprehensive individually focused training that prepares the students for providing a quality physiotherapy care to the patients so that at the end of the course he/she will be able to perform the following:
  • To make our students competent in the field of Physiotherapy and allied areas.
  • To include the capability to work as entrepreneurs and techno-managers with strong ethics and communication skills.
  • To equip the students to pursue higher education and research in reputed institutes at national and international level.
  • To develop a working knowledge of physiotherapy techniques.

  • Program outcomes /program specific outcomes describe graduate attributes i.e. what students are expected to know or will be able to do when they graduate from a program.
  • Community Health – To identify the role of physiotherapy in the context of the community health needs in particular and the national health sector.
  • Moral, Ethical and legal issues – be able to perform a safe, systematic and appropriate physiotherapy assessment for various conditions while adhering to legal ,ethical and professional standards of practice in a multitude of physiotherapy settings for patients.
  • Critical thinking – be able to analyse and interpret physical assessment and diagnosis and set appropriate short term and long term goals and to choose demonstrate intervention safely and document the progression appropriately.
  • Analytical skills: to utilise analytical skills critical inquiry and evidence based practice to make clinical decision essential for autonomous professional practice.
  • Collaboration- to work as independent physiotherapist or in collaboration with a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team to diagnose and treat disorders as per red and yellow flags.
  • Team work – to communicate effectively across wide range of professional and personal contexts compatible with social, economic, psychological and cultural aspects of disease and the beneficiary.
Program Specific Objectives
  • Disciplinary knowledge: To develop sound understanding and knowledge of anatomical structures, physiological function and biochemical processes and dysfunction.
  • Problem solving: To understand the rationale behind basic investigate approach making students competent in assessing and evaluating various anatomical, pathophysiological and psychosomatic systems reaching accurate diagnosis including medical and surgical ailments in different age groups and occupation.

THE NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR ALLIED AND HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONS ACT, 2021 (NO. 14 OF 2021) [28th March, 2021]

Definition: Physiotherapy Professional is a person who practices physiotherapy by undertaking comprehensive examination and appropriate investigation, provides treatment and advice to any persons preparatory to or for the purpose of or in connection with movement or functional dysfunction, malfunction, disorder, disability, healing and pain from trauma and disease, using physical modalities including exercise, mobilization, manipulations, electrical and thermal agents and other electro therapeutics for prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, health promotion and fitness. The physiotherapist can practice independently or as a part of a multi-disciplinary team and has a minimum qualification of a baccalaureate degree.
